Drawing Tablets

As a possible Christmas present this year, I was thinking about getting a drawing tablet. Except there are sooo many different kinds and brands and I don't know which one is best. I'm not a hardcore artist by any means and this will be my first tablet...so one good for beginners would be great.

I have a Wacom bamboo fun, and I love it. It is my first tablet and is pretty easy to use. It's good quality, and was relatively inexpensive.

I just got a bamboo connect for an early Christmas present, it's really nice and easy to use, comes with a pen and several new tips for it, my tech friend said it is a good entry level tablet, there are higher level ones available from bamboo as well.

I got an Intuos 3 for my birthday... I think 3 years ago? And it's still working beautifully for me. I have the smallest size, but I did purchase it new. I've been treating it well, and there's no wear and tear other than minor marks where I commonly draw - nothing deep enough to feel it, though. The tablet has always communicated well with my PC (except when I used Photoshop Elements, but I blame that 100% on Elements), and I have no complaints about it. The size doesn't bother me at all, though maybe I just don't know what I'm missing. I was a novice digital artist when I got the tablet (and I still am), but it wasn't too fancy by any means.<br /> <br /> So I agree with Geist, I would get an Intuos 3. There's always Amazon if you don't like Ebay. I'm sure you'll like whatever you get, though. :) Merry Christmas!

My very first tablet was Wacom Bamboo Fun. I still have it, got it years ago<br /> <br /> I recommend it as a first tablet.

Intuos 3. Mine was bought from Ebay for $60. Nine inch drawing space at its widest part. I only use one so large because it's easier on my hand, I used to use a five inch and preferred it.<br /> <br /> Since Intuos 4 and Cintiq have been released and prices have dropped, I suggest getting an intuos 3 off Ebay. They're very tough, long lasting tablets. Avoid Bamboos, I've heard way too many bad things about them. And you can generally get small Ebay Intuos much, much, much cheaper than a Wacom-store bought Bamboo.<br /> <br /> Also Graphire 3, if their drivers work with new machines. I had one for years and years and years. They're old, so cheap, and their sensitivity is between a Bamboo and Intuos.<br /> <br /> Also, purchase felt-tip nibs and only use the plastics as emergency backup. The felt tips feel -much- more natural.
